Dick Israel as onscreen villain: 'Best rapist in town'

Recounting the beginnings of his showbiz career, veteran actor Dick Israel said his roles onscreen earned him the ire of many of his viewers.

In an interview with ANC's "Storyline" aired Friday, Israel recalled being "the best rapist in town," referring to the frequency of his taking on portrayals as a sex offender and a villain on the big screen.

"Papasok ako sa sinehan nang palihim. Naririnig ko 'yung mga nanonood, they hate me. I feel elated, kasi 'yun talaga ang trabaho ko eh, ang galitin nila. Meaning, successful talaga akong kontrabida," he said.

Israel would go on to be recognized for his acting by local award-giving bodies. Among others, he was awarded Best Supporting Actor in 1988 for his role in "Patrolman" at the Metro Manila Film Festival; and in 1995 for his portrayal in "Kanto Boy 2: Anak ni Totoy Guapo" at the FAMAS Awards.

Philippine Azkals crush Myanmar, off to semis

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – The Philippine Azkals demolished Myanmar, 2-0, encounter at the Supachalasai Stadium in Bangkok Friday night to gain a second-straight semifinal appearance in the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Phil Younghusband and Angel Guirado keyed the Azkals' victory by scoring one goal each, bringing the Philippine squad to the tournament's knockout stage.

Younghusband, who was unloading long-range shots against the Myanmar in the first half, finally found his mark from close distance in the 47th minute to push the Azkals ahead, 1-0.

Guirado, who came in for Denis Wolf, sealed the win for the Philippines with a goal in the 93rd minute.

The Philippines showed a strong defensive game early in the first half, with their backline consistently thwarting Myanmar's attempts.

Desperate for a win, the White Angels launched several attacks and found weaknesses in the Azkals' midfield midway the first half.

Kyi Lin floated a cross to Aung Moe in the 13th, but the attempt was foiled by keeper Ed Sacapaño.

Gaining more confidence near halftime, Myanmar’s David Htan ran toward the Azkals goal, but his shot sailed over the cross bar.

They dominated possession but showed no goals for it because of lack of creativity in the final third.
The Azkals came roaring in the second half, with Phil controlling a long pass by Jason de Jong, before going past 3 defenders and scoring the Philippines' first goal.

Minutes later, Kaung Si Thi unleashed a dangerous attempt at the goal as he breached the penalty area.

Sacapaño cleared the attempt with a reflex save.

The Philippines nearly bagged a second goal in the 64th, but Angel Guirado's header bounced off the post.

The Azkals also suffered a scare when Phil had a collision with Myanmar’s defenders.

Fortunately, the injury was not serious and he was able to get back into the game.

In the 93rd, Guirado caught a long pass and secured the Azkals' semifinal seat by escaping Myanmar's defense to make it 2-0 for the Philippines.

It was the first time for the Philippines to beat Myanmar.

With the win, the Azkals will join host team Thailand in the knockout stage.

The Philippine will square off against the winners of Group B in the home-and-away semifinals on December 8 and 12.

The first time the Azkals reached the Suzuki Cup semis was in the 2010 edition of the tournament, when they shocked former titlist Vietnam on their way to the knockout stage.

Some of the Filipino players who were part of that 2010 squad were jubilant over the team's victory.
Fulham FC keeper Neil Etheridge was all praises for the Azkals.

"I'm so happy about the result and not even there... Feel so proud to be a part of this since 2008 what a great feeling for the players," tweeted Etheridge.

Midfielder Simon Greatwich said the win proved that the Philippine Azkals' semis finish in 2010 was no fluke.

“Great day for Philippine football. The 'whipping boys' of Asia into the semi final of the Suzuki Cup once again!" said Greatwich.

Paulo Avelino not focused on awards

MANILA, Philippines – Getting acting awards isn’t really the end goal for actor Paulo Avelino. What's more important, he said, is to deliver compelling performances that viewers would always remember.

This is what Avelino told when asked if he thinks his performance in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Shake, Rattle & Roll XIV” is worthy of an award.

“For me I’m not really vying for awards, but I just want to do great films, magagandang teleserye, magagandang pelikula. Para sa akin masaya na ako pag kampante ako sa sarili ko,” said Avelino, who won a Best Actor trophy from the Gawad Urian for his performance in the indie movie "Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa."

Avelino, who gets reunited with his friends from the Kapuso network in the movie, said he is very proud at what they have done in the horror film as a whole.

The actor said he is really glad that he could portray a different character in this movie after drawing raves for his villainous turn in the phenomenal ABS-CBN series “Walang Hanggan.”

“I don’t want to be stuck in one character. Kumbaga may bagong oportunidad na mag-portray ng bagong karakter, gagawin ko,” he explained.

After this movie project, Avelino hinted that he wants to do another project where he will portray the role of a serial killer.

Enrique Gil refuses to be affected by bashers

MANILA, Philippines – Young actor Enrique Gil refuses to be affected by the comments of some netizens who are rooting for actor Daniel Padilla to be the partner of actress Kathryn Bernardo in the ABS-CBN series “Princess and I.”

In the latest goings on in the top-rating television series, Prince Jao (Gil) is now engaged to Mikay, played by Bernardo.

In an interview with, Gil said the viewers should not attack anybody since what they see on TV is only a story.

“Hindi naman [ako nakaka-receive ng hate mails] sa e-mail. Sa Twitter siguro mayroong iba pero hindi naman ako mahilig mag-Twitter masyado. Buti na lang wala naman akong nababasa na bashers so that I won’t feel bad. Siyempre story lang ‘to, teleserye lang ‘to, relax lang po,” he explained.

Gil, however, said he is glad that all of them in the show are given a chance to be in the spotlight.

“Masaya siyempre. Basta sa story na ito fair naman sa characters. May moment sila ni Gino (Padilla) may moment din si Mikay at Jao so bounce-bounce lang ‘yan eh. Basta follow the story to see kung sino ang magkakatuluyan in the end,” he said.

Gil also said they are lucky to have a “very particular” director, who brings out the best in them in every scene.

“We’re trying to work on it lalo na si direk Rory Quintos [mabusisi] sa mga eksena namin kasi pataas ng pataas ang emotions namin ngayon eh. Medyo haywire yung emotions nina Mikay, Jao, at Gino. Kaya level up din ang acting,” he said.

Meanwhile, the actor said he feels honored that aside from “Princess and I,” he is also doing a movie which will be part of this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival with the movie "The Strangers."

“Kapatid ko si Julia Montes. Family kasi kami tapos may journey kami, papunta sa probinsya. Tapos may unexpected turn of events na nangyari sa trip na ‘yon. That’s where the story starts—combination siya ng suspense, action, at horror,” he said.

Regine's repeat concert set on Jan. 5

MANILA, Philippines - Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez will stage a repeat of her 25th silver concert on January 5 at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

"Hi guys Ito na sure na sure na #silvertake2 jan 5 na sa moa parin syempre pa I hope to see you guys there," Velasquez tweeted on Thursday.

Last November 16, Velasquez's concert dubbed as "Silver: The 25th Anniversary Concert Special of Regine Velasquez-Alcasid" at the SM Mall of Asia Arena was cut short after she lost her voice because of a viral infection.

Velasquez was emotional as she apologized to the audience and announced that she will be doing a repeat of her concert for free.

"When I get better, I will do the same show for free! I will do this freakin’ show then I will show you how it should be done," she tweeted.

Singer Martin Nievera, a long-time friend of Velasquez, offered a new title for the re-staging of the Songbird's 25th anniversary concert. Both Velasquez and Velasquez's sister-talent manager Cacai Mitra agreed to attach a subtitle to the show's name: "Take 2."

The repeat of Velasquez's silver anniversary concert was first tentatively set on December 8, according to Mitra.

Also on Twitter, Mitra said the exchange of tickets will be from December 1 to December 25.

Ely Buendia ventures into acting, filmmaking

MANILA, Philippines -- What started as an idea for a music video for Pupil's "Pusakal" has snowballed to become the first feature film venture of the band's frontman Ely Buendia.

The initial concept for "Pusakal" was inspired by Pupil's popular "20/20" music video, which was shot along EDSA, Buendia said during a press conference for his contract-signing with the film's producer Curve Entertainment on Wednesday.

"So ang nangyari, lumaki na lang nang lumaki. Nagkaroon kami ng script, nagkaroon kami ng story. From there, it snowballed na lang. After the intial scriptwriting stage in May, we shot the movie, and right now, we're finishing it up, post-production," the musician said.

According to Buendia, the film tackles the culture of violence in the Philippines and unfolds as an anthology of three "segments." The former Eraserheads vocalist will direct one that features actress Megan Young; while Pupil guitarist Yani Yuzon and music video director King Palisoc will direct the other two.

Other actors featured in the movie are Art Acuña, Joel Torre, Bela Padilla and Buendia himself.
Comparing "acting" in a music video and for a feature film, Buendia said, "I don't consider music video performance acting kasi tumutugtog ka lang naman. Sometimes you have to show some emotion, pero this one's different."

"You really have to be convincing. Kaunting palya lang sa performance mo, medyo magsa-suffer na 'yung buong pelikula," he added.

Admittedly, Buendia feels pressure from acting in his own debut feature film. "Malaki 'yung pressure," he said, "But I made sure naman na 'yung character na tinackle ko, malapit-lapit naman sa 'kin."

Having released his first short film in 2008, the OPM icon credits digital technology for making it easier to become a filmmaker. In the '90s, Buendia pointed out, this wasn't the case -- as the equipment for making films were limited even at institutions that offered education on the craft.

"I really wanted to be a filmmaker since college, as a career. Music for me was just a hobby then; I didn't really think making I'd make an actual career out of it. I was studying to be in film," he said.
"After 20 to 30 years and with the advent of digital technology, mas madili nang pumasok sa filmmaking," Buendia added.

Sarah on John Lloyd: 'I'm happy to see him happy'

MANILA -- John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo have managed to rekindle their friendship despite a prolonged break from shooting their romantic-comedy film series.

"It's a joy, kasi ang tagal na since we last worked together," Geronimo told reporters shortly after the 25th Awit Awards ceremony held Tuesday night.

"Masaya ako na nanumbalik 'yung friendship namin, 'yung magandang working relationship namin, better talaga. Masaya kami sa set," the actres-singer added.

After being delayed a number of times since it was first announced in mid-2011, the film with the working title "It Takes a Man and a Woman" is now slated for release on Valentine's Day, according Viva Entertainment head Vic del Rosario.

Originally slated for release in July this year, the third installment in the Cathy Garcia-Molina-directed film franchise only managed to resume filming in September.

Sarah Geronimo
With her first team-up with Cruz in "A Very Special Love" (2008) drawing loyal fans -- their organized clubs dub themselves "AshLloyds" (Asher is Geronimo's second name) -- Geronimo hopes "It Takes a Man and a Woman" will be able to replicate the success of the first two films in terms of "kilig" and box-office performance.

"Syempre 'yun 'yung goal namin, na maibalik 'yung kilig, 'yung kilig na naramdaman nila doon sa first movie palang, sana bumalik 'yun. At sana 'yung love story meron kaming maibigay na lesson sa kanila," the singer said.

In February, Cruz and Geronimo detailed some aspects of the film, saying that it will be set three years after the second entry in the series.

“Sa bawat relationship naman, laging may changes ‘di ba? Ito may time lapse so makikita natin kung ano ang pagbabago kay Laida at sa relationship nila,” Geronimo said at the time.

On Tuesday, the singer also said they feel pressured to live up to the box-office success of the first two films, which are among the Top 10 highest-grossing Filipino films of all time.

"Double 'yung pressure, kasi ito 'yung last installment namin para sa mga pelikulang ginawa namin ni John Lloyd, so talagang pinagtatrabahuhan nang mabuti, pinapaganda 'yung script, para sa viewers natin," Geronimo said.

Since they last worked together in "You Changed My Life" (2009), which sparked rumors linking them romantically, Geronimo and Cruz have had their respective real-life "love teams."

For a time, the Pop Star Princess was rumored to have a blooming romance with actor Gerald Anderson.

Cruz, on the other hand, is now in a relationship with actress Angelica Panganiban following his break-up with actress Shaina Magdayao.

"I'm happy to see him happy," Geronimo said of her leading man.

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday said China should remove a new map in its passports, which mark disputed waters as Chinese territory.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario issued the statement after being asked to react to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman's statement that other countries "should not read too much into the map."

"If that is the case, what they should do is remove the imprint of the South China Sea in their passport," he told ANC's Headstart.

The Philippines and Vietnam have condemned the new microchip-equipped passports, saying the map they incorporate violates their national sovereignty by marking disputed waters as Chinese territory.

"This obviously is an excessive claim and in violation of international law, specifically UNCLOS," del Rosario said.

Chinese passports
The DFA chief said it has already filed a diplomatic protest before Beijing and then followed it up by refusing to stamp visas in the new passports.

Instead, all exit and entry visas will be stamped on a separate visa application form and attached to the Chinese passports.

"We are saying, 'That's fine. You can come into the Philippines but we will not stamp the passports, which has this imprint,'" he said.

He also noted that India has gone one step further by stamping its own map onto visas issued to Chinese visitors as the map shows the disputed border areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of Chinese territory.

Asked if the Philippines will do the same, he replied: “Not yet.”

He also said the decision of the US government to raise the issue of the passports is "merely trying to bring out the fact that this action of China raises tension."

"Obviously we want to be able to control tension in order to sustain stability in the region," he said.
The South China Sea is strategically significant, home to some of the world's most important shipping lanes and believed to be rich in resources.

Other claimants to parts of the South China Sea are Brunei, Malaysia and Taiwan.

Is this the biggest black hole in record?

stronomers on Wednesday said they had found possibly the biggest black hole ever observed, a leviathan with a mass 17 billion times that of the Sun, brooding at the heart of a distant galaxy.

The black hole is as unexpected as it is vast, for it accounts for nearly a seventh of its galaxy's mass, a finding that may rewrite theories of cosmic formation, they said.

Named NGC 1277, the monster lies 220 million light years away in a small galaxy just a tenth the size of our Milky Way.

The hole's maw is more than 11 times wider than Neptune's orbit around the Sun.

NGC 1277
It accounts for a whopping 14 percent of the galaxy's mass, compared with the 0.1 percent that is the norm for galactic black holes.

"This is a really oddball galaxy," said Karl Gebhardt of the University of Texas at Austin in a press release.

"It's almost all black hole. This could be the first object in a new class of galaxy black hole systems."
NGC 1277 is already the second biggest black hole ever observed, and it is a strong contender for the top spot, for the current record holder, spotted in 2011, has still not been precisely calculated. It is somewhere between six and 37 billion solar masses.

Black holes are the most powerful known forces in the Universe, creating a gravitational field that is so strong that even light cannot escape from it.

A black hole of stellar mass is formed when a very big star collapses in on itself at the end of its life.
It may then grow by gobbling up other stars and merging with other black holes, sometimes creating "supermassive" black holes which scientists say inhabit the centres of galaxies.

NGC 1277 challenges part of the galactic black hole theory because of its size relative to its galaxy.
In addition, it sits at the centre of a small disc-shaped galaxy, whereas a black hole of this size would have been expected in a far bigger blob-like, or "elliptical," galaxy.

Further work is needed to confirm whether NGC 1277 is a one-off or part of a hitherto-overlooked process of black hole creation.

"The galaxy hosting the new black hole appears to have formed more than eight billion years ago, and does not appear to have changed much since then," the Max Planck Institute said.

"Whatever created this giant black hole must have happened a long time ago."

Erap forces peace between JV, Jinggoy

MANILA, Philippines - Former president Joseph Estrada admitted Wednesday that he told his sons, San Juan City Rep. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito and Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, to end their rift.

"Totoo yan, totoo yan. It's a family affair. Kaya kung mayroon problema ako ang konsultuhin nila," Estrada told Kris Aquino on Wednesday's episode of "KrisTV."

He confirmed that he summoned his sons to a dinner and told them to settle their issues.
"Oo. Nagkahingahan sila," Estrada said.

The younger Estrada earlier admitted that he was hurt by some comments made by his half-brother.
Ejercito is running for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance, the coalition formed by their father and former President Joseph Estrada with the political party of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Estrada’s mother is former Senator Loi Ejercito, while Ejercito’s mother is former actress Guia Gomez.

The younger Estrada said he is upset that his brother allegedly made comments to “generate publicity” over their supposed sibling rivalry “at his expense.”

He also added that he was never a party to any sibling rivalry.

“I believe that the nature of our tepid relationship is perhaps understandable considering our family's circumstances,” he explained.

In his KrisTV guesting, Ejercito said he feels no pressure to be in the top 3 of the Senate race next year to match the achievement of his brother in 2010.

"Hindi naman siguro. Just making it, basta makatuntong lang doon, makatulong ako and I will be able to continue my advocacies," Ejercito said.

Azkals beat Vietnam

Their backs against the wall, the Philippine Azkals came through and shocked Vietnam, 1-0, to boost their semifinal hopes in the AFF Suzuki Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.

Veteran Chieffy Caligdong provided the match's only goal, a strike from the left in the 85th minute following a good lob from Angel Guirado that gave the Philippines the close win and a full three points in Group A.

It was one of only a handful of clear shots for the Azkals in the second half, but a good shot was all Caligdong needed to find the back of the net as he unleashed the half-volley strike into the far post with his more powerful left foot, leaving the Vietnamese keeper with little chance of stopping it.

Vietnam nearly equalized just two minutes later, but Tan Tai's shot from close range hit the crossbar and bounced outside the goal line before being cleared.

Azkalz beat Vietnam
Caligdong came in as a substitute in the 75th minute at a time when Vietnam was clearly controlling the tempo and threatening to score several times. His entry almost immediately revitalized the anemic Philippine offense as the Azkals finally started humming after being outplayed for much of the second half.

It was a good bounce-back win for the Azkals after they absorbed a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Thailand last Sunday. They round up their campaign on Friday against dangerous Myanmar, which held Vietnam to a 1-1 draw.

A win over Myanmar will ensure a second straight semifinal appearance for the Azkals and finally award them with that home match that was taken away from them in 2010.

Vietnam now has the daunting task of beating host Thailand on Friday to keep its semis hopes alive. The result also brought back memories of the Azkals' huge 2-0 upset of the Vietnamese in the 2010 tournament, a result that launched Azkals-mania.

Matteo no plans of getting back with Maja

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Matteo Guidicelli maintained he has no plans of getting back together with former girlfriend, actress Maja Salvador.

The statement comes after they were seen together at the Star Magic benefit concert at Venice Piazza in Taguig City last Saturday.

In an interview with, Guidicelli said he and Salvador are just good friends and that he is already content with what they currently have.

“Maja and I are okay. We talk, we’re good friends, that’s it. Basta my concentration is 'Paraiso' talaga and I don’t want to lose my focus. There’s no problem about being friends again. I’m happy we’re friends because I don’t like making enemies. I’m really proud and masaya talaga ako na magkaibigan kami talaga,” he said.

Maja Salvador
Guidicelli admitted he finds it difficult to juggle his personal life and showbiz career -- which was exactly the reason he and Salvador broke up.

“I guess different ang priorities namin ngayon. And I realize that I want to concentrate on my work first for now. I’m giving it all sa 'Paraiso,'” he said.

Asked if a reconciliation is possible in the future, the actor said: “I’m not thinking of it right now e. Inisip ko talaga trabaho.”

Guidicelli recently participated in the charity marathon Sunpiology, which advocates fitness and healthy lifestyle.

“Sunpiology is a very good cause. It’s a charity run. Tapos [nagkaroon din ng] benefit concert ang Star Magic. It’s a good venue to spread the word about fitness.

For my preparation, I always train for triathlon so this run is also like a training session for me. Pero very well organized and very nice naman yung event,” he said.

Maricel Soriano excited over showbiz comeback

MANILA, Philippines -- Maricel Soriano was beaming with joy as she signed a contract with ABS-CBN, marking her homecoming as a Kapamilya after a "long rest" from show business.

"Pag matagal ka nang naka-rest, gusto mo na mag-work. It's been a long time na nag-rest ako. Ngayon na naiisip mo na 'yung mga [bagong gagawin], 'Halika na nga, mag-shooting na tayo,'" the veteran actress told ABS-CBN News shortly after her contract-signing held Monday.

Soriano's last TV series as a Kapamilya was was "Sineserye Presents: Florinda" in 2009. She has since appeared in a weekly drama anthology and made guest appearances in various programs, in addition to headlining a dramatic film in 2011.

"I'm very excited to work with Dina, because it's been a long time. So sabi ko, 'Wow.' Sabi ko, 'How nice naman if i'll be working with Tonton and Dina again," Soriano said.

Maricel Soriano
"I'm also excited to work with sina Cristine and Gerald. Of course, anak ko 'yun eh, so very handsome. Si Rayver (Cruz) -- he grew up with us, sa 'Kaya ni Mister, Kaya ni Misis,'" the 47-year-old actress added, referring to the long-running sitcom she topbilled with Cesar Montano.
Soriano also starred in the Kapamilya sitcoms "Marry D' Potter" and "John en Shirley."

Although her first comeback project with ABS-CBN is a drama series, Soriano said she is "very open" to doing sitcoms anew.

"Gusto ko rin 'yun eh. Para iba-iba, 'yung may ganito, may ganun, may ganyan," she said.

Tulfos' counsel seeks reinvestigation of complaint

MANILA, Philippines – The legal counsel for the Tulfo brothers on Monday filed an omnibus motion at the Quezon City Prosecutors Office seeking a stop to the issuance of warrant of arrest and the subsequent reinvestigation of criminal case of grave threat against them by celebrity couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto.

The case stemmed from grave threat charges filed by the Santiagos against Erwin, Raffy and Ben Tulfo for threatening the celebrity couple on national television a day after their eldest brother Ramon figured in an airport brawl with the couple in May.

The lawyer for the accused, Atty. Nelson Borja, said his client have not received any subpoena needed for the submission of counter-affidavits during the preliminary investigation.

Earlier, Assistant City Prosecutor Rowena Balagtas issued as resolution saying "the respondents' (Tulfo brothers) demeanor, tone and facial expression indicated that the threats were made with deliberate purpose of creating in the minds of the persons to whom [they were] addressed the belief that the threats would be carried into effect."

Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto
"The threats uttered by the respondents alluded to the infliction of physical harm upon the complainants (Santiago and Barreto).…The threats were consummated as soon as complainant spouse heard the statements of the respondents on TV on May 7, 2012."

Balagtas, however, dismissed the slander complaint against the Tulfos for lack of merit.

According to Atty. Freidrick Lu, the legal counsel of Ben Tulfo, his client is not guilty of grave threat because what he just did was challenge Santiago to a fist fight.

"No actual threat. Sinabi lang niya na fist fight," Lu said.

Ben Tulfo's counsel is also filing an omnibus motion asking the prosecutors office to reinvestigate the case.

"He (Ben) was surprised. If indeed they sent us subpoenas, then show us proof," Lu said.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Chief Prosecutor Donald Lee said that if the Tulfo brothers are questioning the resolution, the only remedy for them is to file a motion for reinvestigation.

US Marine's murder in Bel-Air caught on cam

MANILA, Philippines - A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera recorded the mauling and stabbing of a member of the US Mission to the Philippines by 4 men in Makati on November 24.

The CCTV footage from the corner of Rockwell Drive and Kalayaan Avenue in Bel-Air, Makati City at around 4 a.m. Saturday shows the victim, George Anikow, walking home to Bel-Air Subdivision.
He asked the guard how he could get in.

The guard answered that the gate is always closed between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

"Dumating ang biktima sa oras na 3:50 at lumapit sa akin at nagtatanong kung papano siya makakapasok sa gate na sarado ng Bel-Air Subdivision. Kasalukuyan nagche-checkpoint ako," according to a statement from the guard on duty, whose identity has been withheld.

A Volvo car then arrived with 4 men on board.

The guard asked where they were going and checked their IDs.

Anikow suddenly joined the conversation and hit the side of the car with his hand.
"You need to present your ID. The guard is asking for it," he was quoted by the guard as saying.
It drew the ire of the 4 men, who got off the vehicle. A confrontation then ensued and escalated into a mauling.

"Ikinagalit ng apat na suspect. Tumigil, bumaba nagmumura, 'Gago ka!' Inaawat ko biglang sumugod ang biktima. Noong nagtatalo pa lang, tumawag na ako ng response," the guard said.

The CCTV video shows how the 4 men ganged up on the American.

Anikow managed to run nearly 10 meters, but the suspects caught up, continued the beating and stabbed him.

The 4 men then walked away and threatened the guard not to take down the license plate number of their vehicle.

However, they were not aware that security officers were already alerted. They set up a steel barrier at the corner of Rockwell Drive and Estrella to prevent the suspects from fleeing.

Rockwell Security and police then cornered the 4 suspects identified as Juan Alfonso Abastillas, Crispin dela Paz, Galicano Datu III, and Osric Cabrera.

Anikow sustained 3 stab wounds. He was brought to a hospital, but died after three hours.
Police recovered from the suspects a tactical knife used in the crime. They consider the case as murder.

"Murder dahil may treachery, fistfight lang pero me panaksak na pala,"said Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, police chief of Makati City.

Authorities are now looking for a taxi driver who also saw the whole incident.
A lawyer of the suspects said they are still studying the case and declined to issue a statement for now.
"Very sorry ma'am. We are still assessing all the prosecution statements given to us. Can't give yet any official statements. Hope you understand our situation. Thanks so much ma'am," Atty. Jacinto Ende told ABS-CBN News in a text message.

The US embassy condemned the killing. It confirmed that Anikow is a member of the US mission to the Philippines and a husband of an embassy staff member.

"We appreciate the close cooperation of the Philippine authorities in a careful and speedy investigation and prosecution of this crime, so that the perpetrators may be brought to justice," said Tina Malone, press and information officer of the US embassy in Manila.

Agents from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation will arrive in the Philippines Tuesday to conduct their own probe on the killing of Anikow, who is also an inactive US Marine officer.

Nora recalls being broke, jobless in the U.S.

MANILA, Philippines -- With all the hardships she experienced while living in the United States for eight years, the country's superstar Nora Aunor is confident that she will be able to survive everything that will come in her way.

"Kahit saan mo ako pahigain, kahit saan mo ako ilagay, wala. Hindi ako pwedeng matakot doon dahil sanay po ako diyan," Aunor said in an interview with broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez on "Rated K" that aired on Sunday.

Aunor revealed that when she was living abroad, there times when she couldn't even afford to buy food and pay for her laundry.

But the veteran actress said she never felt angry about her unfortunate experience in the United States.

"Hindi ako nagagalit. Unang una diyan ako nanggaling, nasa probinsiya kami talagang ako ang nagtatrabaho para matulungan ang pamilya ko para mabuhay. Sanay na sanay (ako sa hirap)," she added.

Losing the golden voice

As part of her preparations for her showbiz comeback in the country, Aunor underwent a cosmetic enhancement treatment that turned into a nightmare after a botched procedure in Japan allegedly affected her singing voice

"Umiyak ako. Pagkagising ko sigaw ako ng sigaw pero wala akong naririnig sa boses ko. Ang explanation sa akin lilinisin ang lungs ko dahil sa sobrang sigarilyo. Sabi ko imposible dahil ang tagal ko nang naninigarilyo pero hindi nagkaganito ang boses ko, ngayon lang. Nagkamali po talaga," Aunor said.

The "Thy Womb" actress revealed she still cries whenever she watch other singers perform.
"Naiiyak ako. Sinasabi ko sa sarili ko kailan kaya ulit ako babalik sa pagkanta. Ngayon naimbitahan ako para magbigay lang ng award, hindi kakanta," she said.

The award-winning actress said if given a chance she would really want to sing again.
"Hindi pwedeng hindi. Kung hindi ako nakapagpa-opera noong last year na dapat ay schedule ko, ngayon kapag umalis ulit ako talagang 'yun ang gagawin ko na," vowed Aunor, who is planning to have a big concert after she regains her singing voice.

Right now, Aunor admitted that she is still having a hard time spending quality time with her children -- Lotlot, Ian and Matet.

She said she's just happy that her children still respect her.

Nora Aunor

Apart from "Thy Womb," Aunor is also appearing in the film "El Presidente," which is another entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

Her classic film "Himala" has also been restored and will be shown again in theaters next month to mark its 30th year since it was released.

Judy Ann denies closely guarding husband Ryan

Judy Ann Santos
MANILA, Philippines – Actress Judy Ann Santos denied that she is closely guarding husband Ryan Agoncillo reportedly because of a model-actress.

In an interview with “The Buzz” that aired on Sunday, Santos clarified that she joined Agoncillo in London for a show not because she is suspecting her husband of having an affair.

“Kahit kailan wala akong pinagselosan na kahit sino na kasama ni Ryan, ngayon at sa mga susunod pang panahon. Dahil enough naman ‘yung pinapakitang pagmamahal at pagsuporta sa akin ng asawa ko,” she said.

“Huwag lang siguro talagang may makita akong nakalingkis sa asawa ko, ibang usapan naman yun, di ba? ‘Yung nakalingkis na wala sa camera, ha. Magkaliwanagan tayo dito,” the host of “MasterChef: Pinoy Edition” added.

KC on French suitor: ‘Ito ‘yung masasabi kong tunay’

MANILA, Philippines – Actress-host KC Concepcion was all praises about her French suitor French suitor Pierre Emmanuel Plassart.

In an interview with “The Buzz” that aired on Sunday, Concepcion even hinted that God gave Plassart to her.

“Ang sabi po kasi nila, when you want to ask God for something, you pray about it and you be specific and you believe with all your heart as if binigay na Niya ‘yon sa iyo,” the young actress told host Boy Abunda.

The eldest daughter of actress Sharon Cuneta recalled that she “intensely” prayed for seven days straight last December or January, months after her controversial breakup with actor Piolo Pascual, which she also revealed on “The Buzz.”

“I really wrote down in Post-it notes ang lahat ng gusto ko sa isang lalaki,” she told Abunda.
She would then post these notes on her headboard until she had seven or eight Post-its pasted top of bed.

“Binigay talaga ni God sa akin lahat ng pinost ko …until the very last detail,” she said.

KC Concepcion
When asked to talk about Plassart, Concepcion said: “Pierre is a very kind person na -- ito ‘yung, Tito Boy, marami tayong nakikilalang mga lalaking inaral ang pagiging gentleman and that’s a great thing.

Pero ito talaga, Tito Boy, simula nung baby talaga hanggang lumaki, hanggang ngayon na na-meet ko na siya, ito ‘yung masasabi kong tunay… it’s the real thing talaga. He’s a true gentleman.”

“My heart is at peace knowing that merong mga mabubuting lalaki talaga,” she added.
Asked of Plassart’s best quality, Concepcion said: “He’s not giving up.”

Abunda also asked Concepcion to introduce Plassart to him.

“Pag nakapag-decide na ako Tito Boy na ito na talaga,” Concepcion promised.

“Honestly ‘yung pagiging single …mas creative ako ‘pag wala akong ibang iniisip. I want to still explore kung ano ang mangyayari pa hanggang independent girl pa ang mode ko ngayon,” she explained on why she is not rushing to get into another relationship.

Aga wants to do a movie with Toni

MANILA, Philippines – Aga Muhlach wants to do a movie with host-actress Toni Gonzaga, according to the actor’s wife Charlene Gonzales.

Gonzaga and Muhlach worked together at the recent Star Awards for TV, which will be shown on ABS-CBN on Sunday night.

“Alam mo tuwang tuwa si Aga sa ‘yo,” Gonzales told Gonzaga in a live banter on their show “The Buzz” on Sunday.

Toni Gonzaga
“Sabi ni Aga sa akin when he came home, ‘Gusto kong gumawa ng movie kasama si Toni Gonzaga.’ …Gustong gusto niya talaga si Toni. Sabi ko okay lang ‘yan kasi ako gustong gusto ko rin si Toni,” Gonzales said.

“Winner,” a flattered Gonzaga said as the live audience swooned.

“Ituloy niyo na ‘yan,” she added, as Gonzales gave a shout out to ABS-CBN's film outfit Star Cinema.

Andi cries, says she still loves Jake

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Andi Eigenmann just wants to be happy -- and she doesn’t want to lie anymore.

In a heart-wrenching live interview on “The Buzz” with Boy Abunda on Sunday, Eigenmann confessed that she still loves Jake Ejercito.

“Yes,” she said bluntly, when asked if she still has feelings for former President Joseph Estrada’s son with Laarni Enriquez. However, she clarified that she does not want to be in a relationship anymore with Ejercito, who is currently pursuing his studies in London.

“I don’t want to lie anymore. He told me, I guess that we’ll always be special to each other. It’s just that if he thinks that it has to be a choice between me and doing what other people think is best for him, then [I will] just let him be,” Eigenmann said.

“After what happened [in his interview with media about our breakup and his parents], I’d rather not also be with him.”

However, she said they are still in touch and text each other about once a day.
Eigenmann said she did not read articles about Ejercito’s interview with media, but that he told her about what he had said.

Andi Eigenmann
“Di ko na rin binasa ang articles. Kinwento na lang niya sa akin kung ano nangyari. OK na po sa akin iyon, I still forgave him. Pero iyon nga po, alam ko naman po na di naman niya kinailangang i-defend ang parents niya at my expense, especially na ako ang artista,” she said.

Elie and career

Eigenmann said that recent issues that have come up about her were “uncalled for,” and that they have strengthened her resolve to try and focus on her career and raising daughter Elie.

“Naisip ko, bakit ba kailangan na lang ako parating umasa sa iba, sa kanila? Pwede na lang maging mag-isa. Ako na lang, kaya ko naman po, e,” she said.

“Because of all these issues [which I did not see coming], because of this boy that I’m so in love with, nakalimutan ko na po kung ano ang dapat ko maging priorities. Ang sarili ko, si Elie, trabaho ko po. Right now, that’s all I want to do.”

When asked about a recent post on Twitter where she said she “hated boys,” Eigenmann clarified that it was meant as a joke, though half-meant.

“I don’t necessarily hate boys but it just meant that I’m fine and I prefer to be single right now and focus on my priorities, what matters most, which are Elie and my career,” she said.

She also confessed that her newfound strength came after a bout of self-pity.

“I started feeling na, bakit ganoon ang ginagawa sa akin ng mga taong mahal ako? Siguro masama lang talaga akong tao, kaya masakit po talaga,e. Pero ako pa rin ang masamang tao,” she said.

“Naisip ko, bakit ba kailangan na lang ako parating umasa sa iba, sa kanila? Pwede na lang maging mag-isa. Ako na lang, kaya ko naman po, e. I can raise Elie, I can raise Elie on my own, just the two of us. Now that’s what I want.

The only thing I want is to be happy, ‘coz I really am not,” she said.

“Hindi naman po ako masamang tao, pero ako na lang palagi ang nagiging masama. Pagod na po ako, gusto ko na lang po magtrabaho. Gusto ko maging successful dito, showbiz is my life. Pero mahirap po, but I can’t give up, because I have Elie. Everything that I’m doing now is for her.”

Despite recent tiffs between her and Ejercito’s mothers, Eigenmann said that she still wants to apologize to “Tita Arni” because she knows that she hates being thrust into the spotlight.

“They’re not really public figures, I mean, the mom, she’s not in showbiz anymore. People don’t really talk about her anymore. It’s not her obligation to share her personal life. Jake also, he’s studying in London, nananahimik na siya,” Eigenmann said.

“Nakakahiya po na dahil ako artista pati sila nadadamay. E hindi naman po sila showbiz, e. Ayaw naman nila ng mga ganyan. I wasn’t able to apologize in person, but I’m still hoping to get a chance. Kasi po, pinalaki naman po ako ng mom ko na maging respectful at saka marunong naman ako umintindi,” she said.

Angeline Quinto's mom denies she's only after money

MANILA, Philippines -- Rosemarie "Susan" Mabao, the biological mother of singer Angeline Quinto, denied that she's only after her daughter's money.
"Ako sinasabi ko lang, hindi ko hangad sa anak ko ang pera. Sanay ako sa hirap eh. Basta masaya ako at nakita ko masaya siya, maganda ang buhay niya. Wala akong hihilingin sa anak ko kahit ano," Mabao told in an exclusive interview with Kris Aquino that aired Monday on "KrisTV."

Mabao said she cried every night after she left Quinto and younger son Rudy.
"Talagang masakit po. Gabi gabi akong umiiyak, naalala ko talaga siya. Sanggol pa lang kinuha na sa akin siya sa ospital," said Mabao, who denied that she gave up her daughter in exchange of money.
"Hindi ko binenta ang anak ko. Bale binigyan lang ako ni Mama Bob ng panggastos kasi bagong panganak ako, pero hindi ko binenta si Angeline, never," she said.
In the interview, Mabao admitted that she surrendered her rights to Quinto when she gave the singer to her aunt Mama Bob.
"Totoo yon. Nararamdaman ko magulo na yung (relasyon) naming mag-asawa, noong tatay niya. Talagang mahirap, hindi ko masabi, naiiyak ako," she said.

Mabao said Quinto was a little more than one-year-old when she last saw her.

"Mahirap magsalita baka may masaktan. Basta umalis na lang ako. Ayaw sa akin ng mga biyanan ko, mahirap na nagsasama kami sa iisang bubong eh nagkakailangan kami," she said.

She also said drugs were among the reasons she left her former husband and Quinto.

"Sa papa niya nagmula 'yon. Parang tikim lang (naimpluwensyahan ako) pero hindi ko itinuloy, kaya umiwas ako sa kanya, (kaya umalis ako)," she said.

But Mabao said she has already forgiven Quinto's father.

"Hindi na, hindi naman ako mapagtanim ng galit," said Mabao, who also apologized to Quinto. "Nag-sorry naman po ako noong nagkita kami sabi ko 'anak sorry, naiwanan kita naibigay kita.'"
Last August, Quinto admitted that she finally found her biological mom.

Mabao first approached the singers’ fans, which led her to the singer’s handler Kate Valenzuela, who then arranged their meeting last June 30.

Angeline Quinto
"Buong buo na po ang Angeline Quinto talaga," the singer said who vowed to keep her promise to take care of her Mama Bob.

"Pangako ko po sa kanya (kay Mama Bob) na kahit nagkakilala na kami ni Nanay Susan ay hindi ko siya iiwanan talaga. Utang ko po ang aking buhay kay Mama Bob. Nasaan man ako ngayon dahil sa kanya 'yon.

Quinto is celebrating her 23th birthday today, November 26.

Piolo wants team-up with Shaina in new film

MANILA, Philippines – Piolo Pascual is "crossing his fingers" that he will be paired with Shaina Magdayao for his newest action flick.

In the upcoming Erik Matti film "OTJ (On the Job)", Pascual portrays a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent, whose job puts him at odds with his wife.

According to the Kapamilya actor in an interview with entertainment news site, Magdayao is "our choice for the role [of my wife]."

"[She will portray my wife] only if she accepts the role. We’re crossing our fingers," Pascual said.
In October, the dramatic actor and Magdayao were romantically linked when photos of a supposed "date" in Singapore surfaced online. The two have since denied being in a romantic relationship, but the actress' sister, Vina Morales, chose to keep mum on the issue when asked on the Star Magic talents' state of relationship.

Piolo Shaina
Detailing the plot of "OTJ", which will also feature Gerald Anderson as a "hitman," Pascual said, "'Yung father ni Shaina, played by Michael de Mesa, he's going to be the one na ka-conflict ko."

"With Gerald, siya 'yung ita-try ko hulihin. Madaming sanga 'yung story but it's not going to focus on us. It’s going to focus on the theme of the story," Pascual added.

According to Pascual, "OTJ" has been two years in the making. Now that it's "finally a go," the hunk actor said he is preparing for the physical demands of topbilling an action flick.

"IIt’s knowing the character really well. 'Yung physical requirements, so mostly internal. Like what Gerald said, we’ve known about the project for two years now. I am happy that he’s on board... So we’re all excited," Pascual said.

Daniel on Kathryn: We think about each other

MANILA, Philippines – Ever since he was first paired onscreen with Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla has grown to regard the young actress with utmost importance.

According to the Kapamilya heartthrob, the same may also be the case for his "Princess and I" leading lady.

Kathryn Bernardo Daniel Padilla
Quizzed on the status of his relationship with Bernardo, with whom he was first paired in 2011 via the teen series "Growing Up". Padilla said they remain close friends.

He added that he cannot speak for the future of his relationship with Bernardo. He said he leaves it to the young actress to steer their friendship in a direction she deems fit.

"Siguro ho ngayon, sobrang close kaming magkaibigan. Nagkakaintindihan po kami," he said.

"Hindi ko po alam, dahil syempre na sa babae po ang sagot. Syempre, lalaki po tayo -- ano po bang karapatan natin para sabihin? Tayo lang ang mag-aabang, sila na po bahala magmaneho," Padilla added.

Monique Wilson admits that's shes a lesbian

MANILA, Philippines – In local showbiz, male celebrities who "come out" as gay men have more "impact" than female personalities who admit to being lesbian.

In a roundtable discussion among the hosts of entertainment talk show "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday, host Ogie Diaz opined that the recent "coming out" of Filipina stage actress Monique Wilson is a matter of pride for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.

Speaking to fellow hosts Carmina Villaroel, Joey Marquez and Janice de Belen, the openly gay Diaz added, however, that popular male personalities who "come out" somehow prove more controversial than lesbians admitting their sexual preference.

"'Yung pag-amin ni Monique Wilson -- babae tapos inamin niya na siya ay lesbian -- sa industriya natin, sa showbiz, parang mas may impact o mas big deal kung 'yung lalaking aktor, umamin na siya ay ganun," Diaz said.

"’Pag babae kasi parang hindi interesado. Parang, 'Ay, ganun, umamin?' Pero syempre, pride ng LGBT 'yan si Monique Wilson," he added.

Monique Wilson Lesbian
On Friday, the acclaimed singer-actress and former "Miss Saigon" star "outed" herself as a gay woman. Her public admission, Wilson said, is linked to her advocacy against violence against women. She also said she hopes to serve as a role model to those who are otherwise in fear of opening up on their sexual preference.

Wilson also shared she has been in a relationship with a woman for over 14 years now.
"Kung nararamdaman talaga nung taong sangkot na kailangan na niyang umamin kasi baka ikamatay niya, eh mas makakaigi 'yun para lumuwag ang kanyang paghinga," Diaz said of admitting one's sexual preference.

Over the years, a number of local celebrities have "come out" -- among them Rustom Padilla, who now identifies as a transsexual named BB Gandanghari; and actress-singer Aiza Seguerra, who has been open of her relationship with other women.

"Iba p arin sa showbiz if it comes straight from the horse's mouth ay maririnig natin," Diaz added. "Basta masaya ka at wala kang sinasaktang kapwa."

Psy's 'Gangnam Style' video becomes YouTube's most viewed

LOS ANGELES - South Korean rap star Psy's music video "Gangnam Style" on Saturday became the most watched item on YouTube with over 800 million views, edging past Canadian teen star Justin Bieber's two-year-old video for his song "Baby."

The milestone was the latest pop culture victory for Psy, 34, a portly rap singer known for his slicked-back hair and comic dance style who has become one of the most unlikely global stars of 2012.

Psy succeeded with a video that spawned countless parodies and became a media sensation, and in the process he gained more fame outside his native country than many of the more polished singers in South Korea's so-called K-Pop style who have sought to win over international audiences.

YouTube, in a post on its Trends blog, said "Gangnam Style" on Saturday surpassed the site's previous record holder, Bieber's 2010 music video "Baby," and by mid-day "Gangnam Style" had reached 805 million views compared to 803 million for "Baby."

"Gangnam Style" was first posted to YouTube in July, and by the following month it began to show huge popularity on YouTube with audiences outside of South Korea.
"It's been a massive hit at a global level unlike anything we've ever seen before," said the YouTube blog.

The blog also said the "velocity" of the video's popularity has been unprecedented for YouTube, and that users from all over the world search the site for the words "Psy" and "Gangnam Style".

gangnam style psy
Fans of Psy celebrated his victory, noting in the comments section of YouTube on Saturday that it took just four months for his video to rocket to over 800 million views, compared to two years for Bieber's "Baby."

In his "Gangnam Style" video, named after the affluent Gangnam District of Seoul, the outlandishly dressed Psy dances in the style of someone riding a horse and raps in Korean.

Earlier this month, Psy closed out the American Music Awards with a rousing performance of the song as he was joined on stage by MC Hammer, an American rapper whose hit single "U Can't Touch This" made him a pop culture sensation in 1990.

Hatton knocked out in 9th round of comeback fight

Ricky Hatton's comeback after a 3-1/2 year absence from the ring ended in a ninth-round knockout defeat by Ukrainian welterweight Vyacheslav Senchenko in Manchester, England on Saturday.

Britain's 34-year-old two-weight former world champion had lost 4-1/2 stone in preparation for the fight and 20,000 fans turned up at the MEN Arena to see his return in his home city.

He seemed to heading for a points win but began to tire in the later rounds and the 35-year-old Senchenko, himself a former world champion, unleashed a fierce left hook to the body.

Hatton hit the canvas and failed to beat the count leaving the Ukrainian, who only lost his world title to American Paulie Malignaggi in April, as the only man to beat him in England.

"I thought I was maybe four rounds up but there were clear signs of ring rust," a tearful Hatton said on Primetime TV. "I hurt him a few times, and I was winning.

"It was a good shot, I should have realised he was looking for that."

Rikcy Hatton Knock Out
Former WBA world welterweight champion Senchenko, who has now lost just once in 34 fights, winning 22 by knockout, was a stern test for Hatton who must now decide whether to fight on.

"I suppose that is what three-and-a-half years out of the ring does. I think I did alright - this guy only lost his unbeaten record in his last fight," Hatton added.

"I don't want to make any hasty decisions but I am really heartbroken. I am just gutted. I am not a failure, that is not how my career should end but I have to have a good think about it now."

Britain's former welterweight and light-welterweight world champion, who had quit after a devastating two-round knockout by Manny Pacquiao in May 2009, has now lost three of his 48 fights.
His best performance came in 2005 when he stopped Australia's Kostya Tszyu to add the IBF light-welterweight title to the WBU belt he already held.

He had a perfect 43-0 record until he was floored by Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas in 2007 and was never the same again.

Unconvincing victories followed against Juan Lazcano and Malignaggi but he was outclassed by Pacquiao and after a long period of inactivity he retired in July last year.

Willie Revillame Sets ‘Last Day’ On Show

MANILA, Philippines - Where is Willie off to this time?

Leaving many hanging with a promise of a mystery announcement soon, this is one of the many questions in people's minds now with Revillame's puzzling statement Tuesday night on the TV5 program "Wil Time Bigtime" regarding his future plans and the fate of the show.

Abangan n'yo," he noted.

Willie Revillame Last Day On Wiltime Bigtime
While some thought him to be joking, the veteran entertainer proved that he wasn't when he asked the "Wil Time Bigtime" performers and staff members to begin scouting for another work.

He has already sought blessing from the TV5 management, and according to Willie, they respect his decision.

Curiously, at one point, he referred to Jan. 5 as his "last day."

"Talagang i-a-announce ko na kung ano ang gusto kong gawin," he stressed.

Willie opted to give a teaser of sorts of his grand announcement as early as now because "ayoko ko kayong biglain."

"Basta magmula ngayon, enjoy lang tayo. Kalimutan niyo muna 'yan," he related, adding, "Hindi ko alam kung aabutin pa ako ng January 5."

The entertainment and the prizes will remain a-plenty for the Christmas season, Willie nevertheless assured.

Willie was one of the big shot talents who transferred to TV5 two years ago following his high-profile, legal battle-preceded exit from ABS-CBN network, where he hosted one of its most successful yet controversial variety-game shows, "Wowowee."

His first TV5 show, "Willing Willie," was launched on Oct. 2010, but was eventually reformatted to "Wil Time Bigtime" in May 2011 after it drew criticisms and legal complaints for the alleged maltreatment of a 12-year-old boy who participated in one of its segments.

Ogie Alcasid praises Vice Ganda, Kris

MANILA, Philippines - Singer Ogie Alcasid thanked Kapamilya stars comedian Vice Ganda and actress-host Kris Aquino, who came to the rescue after his wife Regine Velasquez lost her voice during her 25th anniversary concert last Friday.

In an interview with, Alcasid has only good words for the "Sisterakas" stars.
"I thank some of them like Kris and Vice for showing their undying love for Regine. Nag-thank you lang ako kasi nabuhayan ng loob ang misis ko. Seeing all those people back her up.

Hindi ako close kay Vice, I don't really know him well, minsan nakikita ko siya. But this time, I really got to see what kind of a humble person he is. It takes a lot of humility to say those things it takes a lot of class to say those things.

Alcasid said what made the night extra memorable was the fact that Velasquez's fans understood their idol's condition and stayed until the end of the concert.

"I have not heard one negative thing except 'nakakaawa naman si Ate. 'Yung parang gusto mong umakyat at sabihin, 'Ate tama na huwag ka na kumanta. Okay ka lang?' I don't think I could have done that. She was really brave," he said of his wife.

During Velasquez's anniversary concert, several of her celebrity friends went up on stage to help the singer entertain her fans.

Among there were Ganda and comedian John Lapus, who assured Velasquez that everybody loves her.

Ogie Alcasid

The repeat of singer Velasquez's silver anniversary concert is tentatively set on December 8, according to her sister Cacai Mitra.

Mitra, however, said they are still waiting for the medical clearance from the doctors.

Kris admires Regine's professionalism

MANILA, Philippines – Television host and actress Kris Aquino was not able to stop her tears when singer Regine Velasquez lost her voice due to an illness during her 25th anniversary concert.

Aquino watched Velasquez's concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last Friday with comedian Vice Ganda.

In her official Twitter account, Aquino told her followers that she really felt for Velasquez because she knows how hard it is to lose a voice.

“Regine said it was a virus she caught but promised the fans in MOA a repeat so that, in her words, they could see the show they deserve,” she said.

“Sensitive ako sa mga nawawalan ng voice. My heart ached for Regine. I felt her frustration at not being able to give 100%,” Aquino added.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Philippine Entertainment Portal after the concert, Aquino said she will forever be Velasquez’s fan because of her professionalism.

“Kasi I know what a perfectionist she is, so alam ko na ginusto niya talaga to give everybody a beautiful show. And alam ko na, she herself, siguro masakit talaga ito na hindi niya naibigay ang lahat,” she said.

Aquino also said she is willing to help Velasquez in organizing her concert repeat this December.
“Kung kailangan mamuhunan para tulungan siya i-mount 'yung free show, go Regine,” Aquino said.

Velasquez is one of Aquino’s close friends in show business. Velasquez even helped during the campaign of Aquino's brother, President Benigno Aquino III, in 2010.

Jake Cuenca not yet ready to commit again

MANILA, Philippines – Although he already admitted that he is in love with actress Lovi Poe, actor Jake Cuenca feels he is not yet ready to get into a new relationship.

In an interview with, Cuenca said he is still trying to know himself more in light of his past failed relationships.

“I’ve been into so many relationships, I hate to say it, pero lahat ng relationships na ‘yon nag-fail. I did not regret any of my relationships pero I’m in the same process of getting to know myself pa rin. By the time I can [already commit again], I assure you guys 'pag ako nag-commit ulit ‘yun na ‘yon, feeling ko ‘yun na ‘yon,” he said.

Once he becomes sure of what he really wants, he said he would be willing to sacrifice his own happiness for the one he loves.

“Ako naman I think everyone deserves to be happy. Everyone in life deserves to be happy. Ako ang unang taong magsasabing doon ka kung saan ka masaya and kahit kanino naman,” he said.
Last week on “The Buzz,” Cuenca said he loves Poe but this doesn’t mean that they are already in a relationship.

“Yes, I am. Pero you have to ask her din kasi baka naman iba ang nararamdaman niya. I am but we don’t have a relationship. I have feelings for her, I love her pero it’s not a relationship yet,” he said.
Asked what he thinks is stopping them from entering a relationship, Cuenca said: “We’re both very busy and priority talaga naman namin trabaho.”

Meanwhile, Cuenca refused to confirm rumors that Poe is back with her former boyfriend Ronald Singson.

“Just ask her about those things na lang kasi ako naman I don’t want to talk [on] anyone’s behalf. Kung ganon lang ang tanong, it’s better na manggaling na lang kay Lovi,” he said.

Regine's repeat concert set on December 8

MANILA, Philippines -- The repeat of singer Regine Velasquez's silver anniversary concert is tentatively set on December 8, according to her sister Cacai Mitra.

Mitra, however, said they are still waiting for the medical clearance from the doctors.
"There will be a deadline for the claiming of tickets, unclaimed tix will be open for sale.

Will announce as soon as mag-OK ang doctor ni ate! If she will be given clearance by her doc and no damage sa vocal cords nya, then we will re-stage on Dec. 8," Mitra said on microblogging site Twitter.

Last Friday, Velasquez's concert dubbed as "Silver: The 25th Annivesary Concert Special of Regine Valesquez-Alcasid" at the SM Mall of Asia Arena was cut short after she lost her voice because of a viral infection.

Velasquez was emotional as she apologized to the audience and announced that she will be doing a repeat of her concert for free.

"When I get better, I will do the same show for free! I will do this freakin’ show then I will show you how it should be done," Velasquez tweeted.

Viloria TKOs Marquez, unifies world flyweight belts

World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Brian Viloria thoroughly dominated Hernan “Tyson” Marquez, knocking down the Mexican in the first and fifth rounds before finally stopping him in the 10th to win their unification bout via technical knockout in Los Angeles, California.

Marquez’s corner threw in the towel after the Mexican absorbed a crunching left hook from Viloria, went down, and struggled to get up on wobbly legs.

Viloria started out like a house on fire, attacking Marquez in the first round before the Mexican recovered somewhat near the end. But the Hawaiian Punch caught Marquez with a vicious right that sent his opponent down.

After getting a taste of Viloria’s punching power, Marquez went on the defensive in the next three rounds, which the Filipino-American easily won. Marquez simply had no answer for Viloria’s speed and at times looked bewildered and outmatched.

In the fifth, Marquez started showing some life, only to get knocked down again after absorbing a left-right combo. Viloria was in cruise control from then on, doing just enough to win the sixth, seventh and eighth rounds before Marquez put up some semblance of a fight in the ninth.

By then, though, Viloria was a head by a mile on the scorecards, and finally put an end to the one-sided fight in the next round, the official time coming at 1:01 of the 10th.

Viloria thus added Marquez’s World Boxing Association Super World flyweight belt to his own WBO diadem, while improving his record to 32-3 with 19 knockouts. It was his third straight successful defense of his WBO belt, all coming by technical knockout.

Another Filipino, super bantamweight prospect Drian Francisco, was also victorious in an undercard bout, stopping Javier Gallo in 2:54 of the fifth round of a scheduled eight-rounder. Francisco improved to  23-1-1 with 18 knockouts.

Grace Lee to replace Shalani in TV show: report

MANILA, Philippines -- Shalani Soledad and Grace Lee now have more than a common romantic past as a shared history.

Lee, a radio and TV personality, will be taking on the hosting duties vacated by Soledad on a primetime variety program co-hosted by 4 others, including former Kapamilya star Willie Revillame.

Lee will start her stint on the show on Saturday, according to entertainment journalist Ricky Lo in a report published Friday by the Philippine Star.

Before he was romantically linked to Lee -- who admitted "dating [him] for a couple of months" -- President Benigno Aquino III was in a relationship with Soledad for nearly two years.

The two broke up in October 2010 reportedly due to their busy schedule. At the time, Soledad was a member of the Valenzuela City council.

It was in November 2010 when she was tapped by Revillame to co-host his program.

Now married to Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo, Soledad is set to run for Congress in the 2013 midterm elections under the administration-led Liberal Party-Nacionalista Party, Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Meanwhile, Lee became more well-known because her publicized relationship with Aquino.
It was in May this year, however, when the Korean TV host ended rumors of a blooming romance with the president, saying, "We're only friends now."

'Pacquiao should get no more than $50-M for Floyd fight'

MANILA, Philippines – The trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr. has advised Manny Pacquiao to be practical in his efforts to get that elusive super-fight with the unbeaten American.

Roger Mayweather, Floyd's uncle and boxing coach, said Pacquiao should be “wise” enough to accept whatever amount he was offered.

Roger said if the Filipino boxer really wants the fight, he should get no more than $50 million.

“He has not made $40 million, period. He's been getting $20 million. So what you crying about?” the boxing trainer said in an interview with On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

Roger said he finds Pacquiao’s 45-55 split offer absurd because he was dealing with a boxing champion with an unblemished record.

He added that the Filipino shouldn’t bother himself about the split, claiming that Floyd is the bigger draw.

“Problem ain't no money, my nephew is undefeated! It ain't going to be no problem about money cause everybody knows who's going to get the most money cause who's got the best record?”

Roger believes the super-fight will eventually happen because it is unlikely for the Filipino boxer to turn his back on $50 million.

“The fight will happen. If we give him that $40 million, $45 million it's going to happen, $45-50 million he's going to fight for it. You think he ain't?” he said.

MANILA, Philippines - More than a year after her breakup with her American boyfriend, it seems that comedienne Pokwang is opening her heart again to love.

In a bloggers' conference for her newest film "24/7 In Love" which also features other Kapamilya stars, Pokwang said she is now seeing a British man.

While she maintained that the two are only friends, the comedienne admitted that he makes her feel more inspired.

"Kakakilala ko pa lang two weeks ago," she said, adding that she met the man at a birthday party of her friend in Las Vegas. "Friendship pa lang, wala pa ito."

"Noon pa naman ako inspired magtrabaho dahil sa pamilya at anak ko. Pero siyempre kapag magkakaroon ka ng ganyan, mas lalo, hindi ba?"

Asked if she thinks she will end up together with his new British friend, Pokwang said: "Hayaan na lang natin kung saan siya patungo."

Last year, Pokwang said there was a third party involved in her breakup with her then boyfriend Ryan Navarro.

She added that lack of communication as well as her celebrity status have also made their relationship turn sour.

Rustom tells Zoren: You did the right thing

MANILA, Philippines -- The former husband of Carmina Villaroel, Rustom Padilla, extended his congratulations to the Kapamilya host for her surprise wedding with Zoren Legaspi held Thursday night.

Padilla only learned of the celebrity couple's wedding ceremony Friday morning, and was visibly surprised when asked for his comment on it, according to a report published on Interaksyon.

"Really? Hindi ko alam! Congratulations," Padilla was quoted as saying by the news site. "I’m very happy. Wow! Really?"

"It has long been overdue," Padilla said of the wedding ceremony held Thursday evening at Fernbrook Garden in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. "And kay Zoren, tama 'yang ginawa mo!"

BB Gandanghari
Villaroel and Legaspi had been a couple for 12 years before their surprise wedding, which was attended by celebrity principal sponsors like Susan Roces, Maricel Soriano, Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Eric Quizon, and Lily Monteverde.

The chance of marriage had eluded the couple due to "legalities" and "annotations" from the actress-host's previous marriage with Padilla, until August this year.

It was only after two years of married life when Villaroel separated from Padilla, who later admitted on national television his sexual preference, and re-emerged as a transsexual named BB Gandanghari in 2009.

"Hindi na," the former hunk actor said of not being invited to the wedding. "That’s their private family affair… But I’m very. very happy for them."

Maja reveals 'third party' in breakup with Matteo

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Maja Salvador admitted that she ended her relationship with Matteo Guidicelli because she felt like she was competing for the actor's time. But the so-called third party in the breakup is not a person, but an activity.

Salvador said that on top of their showbiz projects, she and Guidicelli are having difficulty finding time for each other because of the latter's love for fitness and sports.

A triathlete and a former racer, Guidicelli now has an afternoon soap titled "Paraiso" with Jessy Mendiola. Salvador, on the other hand, stars with Kim Chiu, Xian Lim and Enchong Dee on the primetime series "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."

She also has an upcoming movie with several other Kapamilya stars titled "24/7 In Love," which will hit theaters next week.

Maja Salvador
"Kasi dati noong hindi pa ako nag-uumpisa ng 'Ina, Kapatid, Anak' ay nakakasabay pa ako sa trainings niya, sa mga takbo, 'yung swimming. Natuto po akong mag-swimming. Natuto po akong mag-swimming so siyempre bilang responsibility to rin bilang girlfriend, masasabayan mo," she told during a bloggers' conference for "24/7 In Love."

"Pero siyempre kung mayaman na mayaman po ako, forever ko siyang sasabayan pero bilang malaki po ang responsibility ko po sa family ko, siyempre kailangan ko rin po magtrabaho. Oras lang po talaga ang naging problema.

"Malaking pasasalamat din po na at least 'yung ka-third party ko ay sports, that's why I hate fitness because I'm loveless."

Salvador stressed that while she respects Guidicelli's love for sports and fitness, she said it is hard to have a triathlete as a boyfriend.

Salvador said she has moved on from the breakup, although there are still times when she asks herself about what happened between her and Guidicelli.

"Parang minsan okay ako tapos parang minsan may kulang. Anong nangyari? What happened? 'Yung babalikan mo, pero siyempre kailangan mong tanggapin 'yon, kailangan mong mag-move on. Life goes on," she said.

In a recent interview, Guidicelli admitted that he did not spend enough time with Salvador, which led to the breakup.

"I guess, I can admit -- tao naman ako -- I had a lot of things that I was lacking for her. She's a wonderful person. Marami akong mga bagay na I was lacking. I guess one of those was time. I admit, okay, time because marami rin akong gustong gawin," he said on "Kris TV."
